Dear Funkster,
We got our groove on at the Amber Bar last night, which is located in the Square Mile.
They have different themed rooms and we were booked for their Groovy Wonderland, the ultimate in retro chic. Which funny enough looks just like my pad… Flashing dance floor, groovy dancers, rollerskaters and cocktails served in giant fruit. Yeah baby!
We designed a themed set based around a photo I took when I was in New York. I was staying in the Lower East Side – my favourite part of Manhattan, when I stumbled upon some uber cool graffiti.
We printed the photo onto a 10ft x 7ft backdrop, which we think looks rather fantastic. And the crazy part is I took the photo with my iPhone 4, which only has a 5mp camera!
I took some incredible photos during my stay in the Big Apple – all using my trusty iPhone.
Bertie’s Hot Tip: Get out there and get creative with your camera phones!
Here are three pointers to help inspire your creative juices:
- The Rule of Thirds – for a simple explanation, check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds
- Unusual Angles – Don’t just look at something head on. Start viewing it from different angles. For instance, try crouching down and looking up at your subject.
- Patterns – Humans tend to naturally find patterns in the world around us. Even relatively ‘boring’ things can produce interesting patterns such as railings, drain covers or grates etc.
Remember to whip it out next time you see something that captures your interest/imagination.
Respectfully Yours,
Bertie
PS Here’s a couple of photos from last night… ‘Who’s da daddy?!’
9th May Update: Received this feedback from the client (which has left us with a warm fuzzy feeling):
“Thank you so very much– I cannot speak highly enough about the fun and enthusiasm you brought to my party, and I would whole-heartedly recommend you to anyone that wants to listen! The Boudoir Booth (aka Pop-Up Photo Parlour) is quite simply fabulous, and had my colleagues talking/laughing(!) about it for days afterwards!”
